About Arduu
Arduu is a free word puzzle about discovering hidden connections. Every board begins with sixteen words. Your challenge is to spot what they have in common and arrange them into four groups of four.
A connection might be a shared meaning, a familiar phrase, a category, a sound, or an unexpected second sense. Some are easy to see. Others hide behind words that seem to fit in more than one place. Finding the intended pattern—and untangling the tempting alternatives—is where the fun lives.
Arduu is designed as a satisfying puzzle first, but every board also helps stretch your vocabulary. Many boards include words you might encounter on the SAT. Instead of asking you to memorize them in isolation, the puzzle places those words among familiar ideas and asks you to reason about how they relate. When you solve a group, you can open each word to see a clear definition in the sense used by the puzzle. Over time, that practice can sharpen your feel for shades of meaning, second senses, and the relationships between words. You leave a little wordier than you arrived, without it feeling like a study session.
How to play
- Tap four words you think belong together, then Submit.
- Get all four right and the group locks in with its category revealed.
- Miss and you lose one of four tries. Get exactly three right and you'll hear "off by one."
- Solve all four groups to clear the board. Tap any solved word to see its definition.
